A Bit About Us
Terry Slagle started the Home Brewing supply business in Clarion in February of 2005. Terry operated his store Slagle’s Home Brew at the 246 Main Street location until his retirement in 2013. Ken and Valerie Means purchased the store from Terry on June 10, 2013 and changed the name to Means Cork and Cap. Other than the name change and change in business hours, the store is run the same way and has the same quality products for sale.
Ken Means started his home brewing and wine making hobby when Valerie and the children bought a beer equipment kit to give to him on Father’s Day 2007. He has brewed many tasty beers and produced some fine wines since then.
Ken has retail experience dating back to his family’s store in Crown, PA. The goal of Means Cork and Cap is to provide excellent customer service to our valued customers. We strive to provide the personal service our customers cannot get from the online home brew retailers, and strive to answer your questions in a courteous and timely manner.
Caitlin is the store manager, a graduate of Clarion University with a degree in business management and human resource management. Having nine years of brewing and wine making experience, Caitlin is very knowledgeable. If she cannot answer your questions, Ken is always a phone call away for an answer. Ken and Valerie both work during the day, so they are unable to be at the store during the week.
